The skating journey through Korea continues with thrilling sessions at Dongtan City and Sunae Plaza, showcasing impressive tricks and camaraderie.

After a night filled with thunderstorms, the sun finally peeked through by midday, setting the stage for an exciting day. Breakfast at the hostel featured an assortment of waffles, cereal, toast, and refreshing mango juice. Following the meal, the team lounged on the rooftop, soaking up the warmth and enjoying tunes from Bonestalone, while brainstorming the day's skate spots led by Labros’ B-Boy and tour guide, Big Salmon. Blair Alley energized the group with impressive rope-jumping freestyle routines, adding a spark to the morning’s energy.
The Day's Itinerary
The itinerary included a skate to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park to board the 4 train towards Seoul Station. From there, they'd hop on an express bus to the renowned 'Dongtan City' for some skating on the legendary wooden wave. This setup evidently reflects a well-thought-out plan by the crew, showcasing a blend of cultural exploration and their passion for skating. Each spot has its unique flavor, promising not just thrills but also pieces of Korean culture, thus enriching the experience beyond mere stunts.

First Impressions at Dongtan City
Upon arrival, the team was greeted by whimsical sculptures from Alice in Wonderland, including the towering teacup and Alice herself. Such artistic installations can provoke a sense of nostalgia and excitement, particularly among those who grew up with the story. Nearby, a set of trampolines caught their eye. Bonestalone and Yiyo showcased backflips while JJ linked together all three trampolines with flair. It’s interesting how these spontaneous moments can add another layer to the day, serving as lighthearted breaks amidst intense skating.
Just before reaching the primary skate spot, Leo and Dalt One discovered a pinball machine outside a candy store. This kind of serendipitous find often creates cherished memories. Little moments like these often shape the trips, revealing the jovial spirit of the team and the fun that freewheeling adventures can impart. This playful contrast to the seriousness of skating reflects a balance that many travelers strive for—immersing in a culture while pursuing a passion.
Skating Under the Cherry Blossoms
Finally at the skate location, surrounded by cherry blossoms, the crew skated this stunning wooden feature intensely for about three hours. The combination of a beautiful natural setting and urban sport creates a unique juxtaposition, and capturing tricks like a lengthy back tail to fakie, front tail, front blunt, back blunt, and an impressive pop-shuv noseslide against this backdrop would ensure that the day's memories linger long after. Richie pushed the limits with a nearly completed frontside kickflip, showcasing not only the team’s determination but also the thrill that comes with trying to master difficult tricks.

Chasing Success at Sunae Plaza
The next destination was Sunae Plaza, only a short 40-minute train ride away from Salmon’s neighborhood. This travel rhythm speaks to a dynamic that skaters often embrace—moving quickly from one hotspot to the next while maintaining energy and enthusiasm. Salmon started off strongly with a smooth front nosegrind and stylish back tail, establishing a strong tone for the session. Leo, not to be outdone, executed a flawless crook line culminating in a tre flip tailslide, echoing his recent cash win at Montreal’s Dime Challenge. It’s these little victories that bind the community, fueling friendly competition among skaters.

Blair Alley
Leo's relentless spirit shone through over the following four hours as he took over 200 attempts to master a dream trick. This speaks volumes about dedication in action; skaters often face setbacks, but persistence can lead to breakthroughs. Ultimately, he completed the tre flip 270 out, marking a standout moment for the crew that underscored the dedication that defines their tour experience. It’s exhausting work, and yet, every drop of sweat is valuable to them—not just for the trick itself but for the stories that come along with learning and falling.

Thrilling Moments at Korea's Historic Double Set
The day reached a peak when Bonestalone and Yiyo ventured across the street to skate Korea’s historic double set. Just as the police arrived, Stalone flawlessly landed a heelflip, creating a buzz among onlookers. This kind of impromptu performance often encapsulates the thrill of street skating, where every trick can draw in a crowd and generate a shared moment of excitement. In a thrilling moment orchestrated by Salmon, Yiyo seized one more chance, skating down the pristine granite hallway of Sunae Station and nailing a monumental hardflip off the five-flat-five set. The ensuing cheers resonated across the area, as even the local police joined in the celebration with high fives, reflecting the camaraderie and vibrant spirit of the AriZona team on just their third day in Korea.
As I reflect on their incredible day filled with both discipline and spontaneity, it's crystal clear that the connections formed, experiences shared, and challenges faced are what truly define such skate adventures. If you’re working in this space, it’s about more than just tricks; it’s about life itself. Each attempt, each fall, and each victory can inspire a broader community.

Looking Ahead: The Significance of These Experiences
As the crew packs up, a simple phrase resonates through the air: 갑시다! This exclamation captures the essence of their journey—let's go! These experiences, a blend of culture, community, and passion, lay groundwork for future adventures. What’s more, they remind us of how vibrant and interconnected the skateboarding community is across borders. For the team, each spot holds the chance for not only personal growth but storytelling that can resonate within their social circles, both online and offline. Their shared laughter and challenges turn into tales that will spark inspiration for both seasoned skaters and newcomers alike.
